Battlement Mesa & Parachute Colorado
Located halfway between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction, Parachute Colorado occupies a lovely swath of valley on the Western Slope, along the Colorado River. The vibrant and friendly Parachute community also embraces the planned development of Battlement Mesa as its own. The area features two flat-top mesas, which provide outdoor adventurers wonderful opportunities for hiking where they enjoy fishing ponds, green meadows and amazing 360 degree views The mesas make up part of the largest contiguous mesa in the entire country, running all the way from Rifle to Grand Junction.
Parachute was originally settled by ranchers, who found the valley fields below the eponymous mesas to be wonderfully suited for raising cattle. Those same valleys are now home to wonderful homes, bike baths and recreational areas, including the 18-hole championship Battlement Mesa Golf Course. Parachute and Battlement are surrounded by vast open space and BLM land. The area is ideally suited for young families and retirees alike or for anyone seeking a quiet, affordable Colorado lifestyle.
